Compare items and build a ranking

Make a few choices. See your favourites rise to the top.

Make a choice

  1. Open a list and choose Play or Compare items.
  2. Move the slider towards your favourite. The ends mean a strong preference; the middle means a tie.
  3. Choose Lock it in, then keep comparing. Open Rankings whenever you want to see your list.
  4. Switch between Play and Rankings without losing your current matchup. After every eligible pair has a preference, Voting finished appears. Continue voting lets you refine your choices, with another stopping point after every 10 additional votes. Saved arrangements also count towards completion.

Read the scores

Tilt uses Elo: a score that changes after each comparison. Higher scores mean you tend to prefer that item in this list. A surprising choice moves scores more than an expected one.

Scores start at 1,000. They are not percentages or scores out of a maximum. Early rankings can move around; more comparisons help them settle.

Change your mind

Undo last vote removes your latest comparison. For unfamiliar named items, use Don’t know to leave them out of play and rankings. You can bring them back from the ranking page.

Quick pick is the default: tap either card or press 1 or 2. You can change voting style in quick preferences beside Auto-continue. Each pick counts as a win for that item. Detailed choice has five stops: tap one or drag along the slider and release. Moving while dragging only previews a choice. Use the arrow keys, Home or End when the slider is focused, or keys 1–5. Press Lock it in to confirm, or enable Auto-continue to submit after choosing or releasing the slider.
