Terms of Use

Tilt is a free service for comparing items, saving rankings and playing with friends, operated by Pawel Zabinski, an individual based in the United Kingdom (“Tilt”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply to the public service at tilt.zabinski.dev. By using Tilt, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

For support, content reports or complaints, email [email protected]. Our privacy notice and cookie and storage notice explain how information is used; they are not a request for blanket consent.

Tilt is for ages 13 and over. A higher minimum age applies if required by the law where you live. AI generation is currently disabled; the AI terms below apply if those features become available.

If you are 13–17, read these terms with a parent or guardian and obtain any permission required where you live. Do not create an account for a child under 13, or bypass age or safety checks.

Give accurate account information, including any age declaration, and do not misrepresent your age. Keep credentials private and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. Choose a nickname that does not reveal private details or impersonate anyone. You are responsible for your own use of the service and the content and invitations you choose to share.

Do not harass, threaten, impersonate or spam others; upload unlawful, abusive or infringing content; or share personal information without permission. Do not submit intimate images without consent, content exploiting children, or content encouraging serious harm.

Do not attack or probe accounts, bypass access controls or safety filters, scrape personal information, overload the service, introduce malicious code or exploit security faults. Automated access must have our permission, apart from ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages.

Do not use Tilt to collect sensitive information, profile someone without their permission, or make decisions about health, employment, credit, insurance or other important matters. Send invitations only to people you have a reason to contact. Shared links can be forwarded and are not suitable for confidential information.

You keep your rights in your original content. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, adapt for display and share that content as needed to operate, secure and provide the features you request. This includes using service providers for those purposes and, if you choose an available AI feature, processing eligible inputs to generate its result.

This licence lasts only as needed for those purposes, including applicable retention and backup periods described in our privacy notice. It does not grant a general right to sell your content or use it to train a general-purpose AI model. Make sure you have the rights and permissions needed for what you submit.

List definitions can include images, custom fields and extension code. Share only content and code you have permission to use. Extension review is required before code runs; approval can be withdrawn. Do not use extensions to collect private information, bypass the sandbox or interfere with other users.

Group ideas and votes are visible according to the board or list’s settings. Public live rankings show combined results. Neither a ranking nor a recorded group decision guarantees that everyone agrees or commits anyone to an event or purchase.

Tilt's software, branding and design belong to us or our licensors. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial recreation. Separate licences govern any software we release under an open-source licence. Other users retain rights in their content; an invitation does not grant permission to republish it.

AI generation is currently disabled. Any future AI features will be optional, with their eligibility requirements and data use explained before you choose to enable them. Shared comparisons will require separate permission from everyone involved. We plan to use Vercel AI Gateway; the underlying models and providers have not yet been selected. No particular provider, model, feature or output is promised. See our AI privacy information.

AI outputs are automated entertainment, not verified facts, assessments of your personality, or professional advice. They can be invented, inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive or unsuitable, even when they sound confident. Taste profiles, compatibility scores and predictions do not establish facts about a person or relationship.

Review outputs before relying on, sharing or publishing them. Do not use them for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or other consequential decisions. Do not submit confidential information, passwords, sensitive personal information or other people’s private details. Do not submit another person's data for AI analysis unless they meet the feature’s eligibility requirements and have agreed to that use; access to a friend's rankings is not itself that agreement.

Outputs may resemble content produced for other people or contain material subject to third-party rights. We do not promise accuracy, uniqueness, copyright protection or clearance for reuse. Any rights you have in an output depend on applicable law and third-party rights. Report harmful or infringing results to us. Filtering and moderation reduce risks but cannot catch every problem.

We aim to run Tilt with reasonable care and skill, but do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available service. Bugs, security incidents, network failures and supplier outages can interrupt features or affect stored data. Keep a separate copy of anything important; Tilt is not a backup or archival service.

We may make reasonable changes, set usage limits, replace providers or withdraw features for security, legal, technical or operational reasons. We will give reasonable advance notice of significant changes where practicable; urgent safety or legal issues may require immediate action. We will not charge you or enrol you in a paid plan without a separate, explicit agreement.

Other users' content and external links are not our endorsement. Independent websites and services have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control them, but this does not remove our responsibility for suppliers we use to fulfil our own obligations to you.

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if you and we knew it might happen when you accepted these terms.

We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, loss caused by your breach of these terms or unlawful use, or an event outside our reasonable control that we could not avoid by taking reasonable care. For example, we are not responsible for an independent internet outage we did not cause. Where both you and we contributed to a loss, responsibility is determined by applicable law.

Tilt is provided for personal, non-commercial use. We do not accept liability for business losses arising from use for a trade, business or profession, including lost profits, revenue, business opportunities or business interruption. The warnings about AI and storage explain the intended use of the service; they do not excuse a failure to meet our legal obligations.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your mandatory consumer rights, rights concerning defective digital content, and rights and remedies under data-protection law remain unaffected.

We may remove content or restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, address a breach, protect people or the service, or comply with law. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and let you request a review, unless doing so would compromise safety, a legal obligation or an investigation. We may terminate access for serious or repeated breaches.

You can stop using Tilt at any time. Account tools let you download local rankings and schedule account deletion with a cancellable 30-day window. You can also make a privacy request directly. Clear browser data separately to remove local copies.

If we close the service, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to retrieve information where practicable. Ending access does not remove rights or liabilities that have already arisen.

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service, the law or security requirements. We will update the date and bring material changes to your attention before they apply, except where urgent legal or security reasons require an earlier change. You can stop using the service if you disagree. Changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections of the law where you habitually live and any right to bring a claim in your local courts. Nothing here requires you to use arbitration or give up a legally available remedy.

Please contact us so we can try to resolve a concern, but you do not have to do so before exercising a legal right. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive our right to enforce it later.
