Make home your own
Choose your section order and discover ways to use Tilt.
Your starting point
On desktop, the sidebar keeps Home, Browse, Profile and your active lists within reach. Collapse sidebar switches to an icon rail; Expand sidebar restores the labels. Your lists shows up to three shortcuts at a time; Previous lists and Next lists move through the rest. Account, Live rankings, Groups and Friends stay available in navigation. Quizzes are available on Home and in the footer. Cloud features need a configured connection to Tilt’s account services.
Tilt uses the Studio layout, IBM Plex Sans and compact spacing. Preferences → Appearance offers text size and mobile navigation. Light mode is the default; you can choose Dark or follow your device. Existing choices are kept. Bottom tabs are the default; bottom tabs and the floating dock show Home, Friends, Browse and Preferences. The header menu appears only with Top menu selected and opens the full navigation. Profile shows your activity and results; Account holds your sign-in settings. Tap your picture in either view to change it. Mobile navigation stays on this device, while text size syncs when signed in.
Create a list is at the top of Home. Each personal list has equal-width Play and Rankings buttons, with Share and More on a second row when space is narrow. Previews show your highest ranked items first, then sample unranked items. Ranked previews show their position; narrower cards show three items instead of four. Missing images use pastel covers in the same frame.
When a page’s back control scrolls fully above the content, the same destination appears at the left of the top bar beside the Tilt logo. Only one back control appears at a time, and it stays the same size on mobile and desktop. The inline control returns as you scroll back up.
On your first visit, a welcome card on Home offers a tutorial. Show me opens a two-page introduction; Try the tutorial opens the normal Fast Food Chains list with a guided tour. Not now dismisses the card. You can replay it from the guide. The tutorial uses your Fast Food Chains list by @tilt. If it is missing, the official list is added to your library. Your arrangements and votes save immediately, just like normal play. Floating tips point out the handles, Unranked divider and voting controls while you use them. While a tip is open, all page controls stay usable. Only specific buttons and handles get a subtle border, which disappears after your first interaction. Tips do not lock scrolling or keyboard navigation. Card tips stay above the cards and become a compact reminder below the header as you scroll, keeping the countdown visible and Lock it in clear. Inside Arrange, the whole popup stays interactive and scrolls normally. Choose Next tip to move on or close the tip to practise freely. Show tips brings it back. Open Arrange items for tips on reordering. Arrange a rough order, then start Play with Quick pick: tap a favourite and press Lock it in for three comparisons. Next, open Quick preferences to explore Detailed choice and Auto-continue. The introductory tip explains what Quick preferences offers; opening the menu shows how each voting setting works. The tip stays visible beside the menu, or below it on a narrow screen. Close the menu to continue practising your chosen style before reviewing your ranking. You can reopen Quick preferences to try both styles. Lists can also include dropdown filters in Quick preferences. Open one to choose an option, or use the arrow keys and Enter. Escape closes the dropdown. Detailed choice lets you say how strongly you prefer an item or call a tie. Your chosen voting settings stay in effect after the tutorial. At the end, a popup introduces groups, live rankings, idea boards and scheduling. Continue ranking returns to normal play; your choices are already saved. Leaving an unfinished tutorial shows a Resume tutorial toast for one minute. It returns to your last view with your choices intact. Refreshing restarts the tips but keeps your saved ranking. Signed-in changes sync through the usual ranking storage. The welcome card stays until you dismiss it or finish the tutorial.
Live rankings appear first by default. The preview shows rankings open for voting, or recent Past results when none are open. Your personal lists and group lists stay separate from those public lists.
Your lists keeps your personal rankings and existing list order. Your groups offers shortcuts to your groups, where you can find events, ideas and live rankings. Quizzes shows three random picks each time you open Home, with See all for the full catalogue.
When you return to Home, Friends or Groups, previously loaded lists stay visible while they refresh. Signing out clears these cached server lists.
If Tilt cannot restore your session or load live rankings, it retries and then shows Try again. Your personal lists remain saved in this browser.
Customise home
- In Preferences, choose Customise home to drag sections into your preferred order. You can also focus a drag handle and use the up and down arrow keys. Dragging stays within the list.
- Hide optional sections with their switches. Your lists always remains available. Changes save automatically on this device and sync when signed in. Restore default layout brings back the starting order and visible sections.
- Edit lists in Preferences → Home rearranges the lists themselves. It uses the same bounded drag handles as arranging a ranking.
Quick tips
Tips explain a feature and take you to where you can use it. Another tip changes the suggestion; Dismiss tip hides the tip for this visit. A random tip appears when you return. Group tips adapt to whether you belong to a group.
Choose Hide all tips in the tip menu, or turn off Show quick tips in Preferences. Preferences also lets you customise the home layout.
